Day Two – Seven Days of Wool

As Monday rolls into Tuesday, so does Day One into Day Two. Undeniably my favorite day for quite sometime now, Tuesday provides me with what is arguably my only reason for life, cheap movie night. Once a week I spend a couple hours sitting in a dark room with complete strangers, watching films of varying quality and eating food that cost more than I pay for internet. It’s wonderful.

I know I’m not the only one susceptible to the lure of 5 dollar hotdogs because I see herds of people after my own heart venturing to a night filled with the aromatics of melted butter and magic dust that can make your popcorn taste like ketchup or cheddar cheese.

What is it that truly makes my heart beat to the theater’s drum? I may never know, but for now I’ll enjoy sharing this ride to early-onset heart disease with my fellow movie-goers and perhaps some day I’ll better grasp the complexity of my feelings toward the movies and it’s grip over me.

Cheap Blue Shirt

“Do you like my shirt?” I said. “I was actually just about to say I don’t. It just looks like a cheap blue shirt.” he said.

The grace and effortlessness of my semi-spilt aside, I’ll be the first to admit that I love to throw down with a good ol’ expensive-as-shit button down – but part, probably most, of me enjoys the cheaper side of things. That is to say, the cheap blue shirt featured above.

If I’m going to be completely honest, which I am, 85 percent of my closet, and this blog, is berated with things that someone else called ‘mine’ before me and if I was a betting man, which I am, I’d bet someone else before them.

We all wish we could have the pieces and brands we’re drenched with everyday, either from the top bloggers we admire or the magazines we wish we wrote for. But when reality strikes and we realize we had Marc Jacobs instead of dinner, the buyer’s high wears off, and your $900 Marc Jacobs FW12 Suede Jacket starts look a little less like a jacket and a little more like rent.

Or maybe I’m just bitter my friend called my shirt ugly.

I Get Lei’d

A thumbs up: what I give for this recent resurgence of floral in menswear. How often have you longed to wear brightly colored palm leaves all over your body? Too long. No more does the trend only exist in unfortunate photos of a family all too similar to my own. The particular pattern featured above may not be as abrasive as most but it is no less Hawaiian-wannabe (my lover, you gotta get with my friends).

And just when you thought your viewing pleasure had reached a maximum: a real life manifestation of my shirt, on my head, while I commence what looks like to be the beginning stages of the robot. A dance best executed in shoedals (shoe sandles), of course.
